About Anthony Ghosh
Mr Anthony Ghosh MBChB, MD, FRCS (Neuro.Surg)
Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon
A leading UK authority in spine care
Most patients who come to Anthony Ghosh have already seen other doctors. They have had scans, opinions, and treatments – and they are still in pain. That is precisely who he is here for and he is well recognised as an authority internationally.
Anthony is one of a small number of surgeons in the UK with dual fellowship training in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic complex spine surgery. He trained at King’s College Hospital and St George’s Hospital – two of London’s foremost neurosurgical centres – and holds an MD research degree from University College London. He was appointed to the NHS Consultant grade in 2017, serving as Neurovascular Lead at a major London teaching hospital and regional spine centre before moving exclusively into private practice. He has brought his microsurgical skills as a vascular neurosurgeon into the spine to keep his procedures minimally invasive. He now focuses entirely on spinal conditions – no general neurosurgery, no divided attention.
One specialist. Total responsibility.
Anthony does not simply operate and step back. Where surgery is needed, he performs it. Where it is not, he personally directs physiotherapists, pain specialists, osteopaths, rheumatologists and others – ensuring every patient has a clear, coordinated path to recovery with one expert accountable throughout.
Anthony is published in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to research published in The Lancet Neurology. He has presented research at national and international neurosurgical conferences. He is a regular contributor to national media on matters of spinal health, and runs a well known educational YouTube channel dedicated to helping patients understand complex spinal conditions in plain language – reflecting his belief that an informed patient makes better decisions and recovers with greater confidence.
