I recently had spinal surgery (posterior lumbar interbody fusion) and I will be forever grateful to Mr Ghosh for his wonderful work. For several years I had been suffering with spinal stenosis/spondylolisthesis causing severe back and leg pain and loss of strength and mobility.

This was increasingly debilitating, and the situation started to deteriorate rapidly during the 6 months or so prior to my consultation with Mr Ghosh. A previous consultation with another Consultant (completely unrelated to The Spine MDT or Mr Ghosh) had left me fearful of surgery and as conservative management with physiotherapy and exercise had not been successful, I felt I had exhausted my options and would continue to degenerate.

Thankfully, it was at this stage that I discovered Mr Ghosh and his Spine MDT practice and, after further research, including his very informative Blog, I consulted Mr Ghosh.

After thorough investigation by Mr Ghosh and following a series of discussions in which he demonstrated not only his exceptional experience, expertise and passion, but also his ability to clearly articulate my options to me and my husband, we decided that surgery was the best option. At all times, Mr Ghosh very kindly explained everything to us in a very down-to-earth and matter-of-fact manner. This was reassuring and very importantly enabled me to face the surgery with calm confidence, knowing that I was in the best possible hands. I am now just over 2 months post-surgery and am overjoyed to be free of the pain that was limiting my life so dramatically.

My strength and mobility are improving, supported by physio and exercise. Mr Ghosh specialises in minimally invasive surgery. This was a great advantage for me, leading to an easier and quicker recovery. Due to the specifics of my situation, I had the surgery at The London Independent Hospital, and the care I received there from all the staff was really excellent. Had I not had surgery, I would have faced a future of increasing pain and disability. Due to the expertise, kindness and care of such a wonderful Surgeon, I am now looking forward with confidence to a good and active future, and cannot thank Mr Ghosh enough for making this possible. I feel privileged to have had Mr Ghosh as my Consultant and Surgeon.

After months of struggling with increasing pain and apathetic care from another neurosurgeon, I read Mr Ghosh’s reviews which immediately encouraged me to book a consultation.

On meeting him, I was struck by his pleasant demeanour and professionalism which instantly put me at ease, and following a comprehensive examination and further imaging, he established the underlying cause of my pain, severe foraminal stenosis impinging the exiting L2 nerve with grade1 spondylolisthesis. We discussed the various conservative measures previously tried, and as a PT I understood the significance of core stabilisation amongst other therapeutic approaches, all of which had been unsuccessful in managing the pain. He explained the surgical options and we agreed to proceed with interbody fusion of L2/3 through a minimally invasive technique.

On the morning of my operation at Chelsfield Park, Mr Ghosh explained the procedure again and told me that he would check in on me when he’d finished operating, which I found very reassuring. Not only did he check in on me that day, but each day I remained in hospital and was always at the end of the phone if/when a complication arose. The surgery itself was a success and although I was not prepared for the level of pain on waking, he and the whole nursing team at Chelsfield Park were amazing.

Following my discharge, I experienced some additional nerve pain, so emailed his secretary Nikki, who again broke the mould by being approachable, helpful and efficient. I was stunned to receive a call from Mr Ghosh on a Saturday evening, apologising for not calling sooner! Again, he was incredibly understanding and kind, providing further advice on how to manage both the pain and my expectations. The first couple of weeks were tough, but within a month I was back at work and even managed a walking holiday! Six months on, I am fully functional and participating in all aspects of physical exercise, even able to perform the more challenging yoga poses.

I’m aware I may sound evangelical about Mr Ghosh, but can attest to his skill, professionalism, humility and empathy; all of which, in my opinion, make him an outstanding surgeon.

To give some context I slipped a disc in July 2025, I was under the care of NHS for Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) which was dismissed by Kings Hospital twice and told me physio would fix me. Despite my continuous pain, I decided to seek support from my private healthcare at work as after 8 months I was not getting better and still in pain.

From first consultation, Mr Ghosh gave me three options I would be facing, 1. Physio, 2. Steroid injection 3. Operation to shave the disc down; he wanted an up-to-date MRI which I had the same week and then a follow up with him the following week ( I had been asking the NHS for an updated MRI for four months and was told I don’t need it.) The outcome was I needed urgent surgery as my 2cm herniated disc with nerve compression was still as bad as my July 2025 MRI.

Mr Ghosh explained everything in great detail. I watched his video explaining what would happen and read his literature ahead of the surgery. Mr Ghosh and his team wasted no time and I was booked in for an operation for the following week. Due to the hospital being shut down as they had a power outage, he made very quick arrangements to get me in three days later at London Independant Hospital for a 6pm surgery. To give further clarity on timings, I met Mr Ghosh on 11th Feb 2026 and I was operated on Monday 2nd March 2026 – this is outstanding. Mr Ghosh, is an exceptional consultant and someone I had trust in from my first meeting with him. The operation was due to be one hour, it ended up being close to three hours due to how bad my condition was. I was also given the best care post-op directed by him.

I will never be able to thank Mr Ghosh for all he has done for me, from first consultation, to operation to post-operation follow up and reassurance, he has always shown a high level of care, professionalism and is a top talented consultant in his field. I am so grateful that I have been under his care. Thank you again Mr Ghosh.

I was seen by Mr Ghosh at Chelsfield Park hospital earlier this year after physio following an accident. My physio said that although treatment had helped, she felt I needed an MRI to make sure that there was no other damage, which I agreed to. I was subsequently referred to Mr Ghosh at Chelsfield Park hospital. I could not have chosen a better consultant - right from the beginning Mr Ghosh was friendly, gave me a very thorough report on the scan, answering all my questions and detailed how I could be treated. I half expected that there would be surgery which I was apprehensive about, but I felt very confident I was in safe hands. My decompression surgery took place on 30 June at. Chelsfield And I was reassured before the op both by Mr Ghosh and the anaesthetist. Yes it was a bit uncomfortable but Mr Ghosh came in to see me 4/5 times and put me completely at ease. I am so pleased I chose him as my surgeon and 6 weeks on from the operation I feel tons better. I’m still having my own physio looking after me for next couple of sessions but things are looking good. May I also say how impressed I was with Mr Ghosh’s secretary Nikky who was so helpful and efficient. I would no hesitate in recommending Mr Anthony Ghosh. Thank you so much.

Upon arrival of today I was slightly apprehensive of what to expect having had no much help from my own gp with the issues I have. However I can honestly say that dr Anthony Ghosh was very understanding, took his time to talk through all issues I am experiencing and also took the time to explain why. During the physical examination he was very understanding of different move moments cause pain so was never pushed at all, has arranged an mri and follow up very quickly and am looking forward to getting results back and finding a solution to the problem I have. I have seen various medical personal over the years and I can categorically say he is a true professional and looks at every angle of the problem you have to find a solution. I had an initial consultation with Mr Anthony Gosh today to address my severe lower back pain. He is a really nice guy who put me at ease immediately. While I haven't started treatment yet, the consultation was very informative. He clearly explained the first course of action but also provided a clear 'plan B', noting that if the first treatment was unsuccessful, he would refer me to a colleague in the pain management team for a different procedure. I was given additional information to read post my consultation to help me make an informed decision and he specifically encouraged me to take my time considering all the options. I don't feel rushed but very confident in his hands.

Following months of physio with no real progress , I acted on a recommendation and decided to consult Mr Gosh. I saw him for an initial consultation after which he sent me for an MRI scan which I had 4 days after seeing him . I saw him again the following week and he outlined my options. On his recommendation I opted for surgery , which I had some 8 days later. After the surgery I still had the symptoms but was assured by Mr Gosh that within 3 weeks I would notice a vast improvement. Sure enough he was right and from then on I have had no pain . After 6 weeks , as advised by Mr Gosh I was able to do day to day activities. Eight weeks post surgery I played my first game of golf today . A very pleasant man , with a friendly , knowledgeable manner , I cannot speak more highly of him. If you need a Neurologist, this is the man to see .

I saw Dr Ghosh for a follow up appointment today, to ask for advice regarding possible treatment options. I have previously seen 2 other Dr’s in Harley Street. In my opinion, Dr Ghosh is in a different league. His knowledge, understanding and treatment of patients is really impressive. I cannot recommend Mr Ghosh highly enough. His level of care is exceptional. I have to also mention his PA Nicky, who was very helpful when arranging my daughters recent microdiscectomy. It wasn't just the level of service we received but the genuine compassion displayed when arranging the appointment and also the operation. She went above and beyond what I would have expected and we are very grateful. My Ghosh was simply lovely and spoke to my daughter in language she could understand (not all medical jargon) which meant she was as confident as she could be with her first ever operation. He was very clear on what she could expect in her post op recovery, so no nasty surprises. He really took the time to ask about the condition, daily habits and impact it has on her life. It was not rushed at all and there was lots of time for us to ask questions. He put us immediately at ease. Fantastic Doctor 🙂 What impressed me about MR Ghosh was he went out the box find a muscular tear diagnosis on T4 level which required a specific type of focused MRI scan to try to find out why I was getting the pain and neurological symptoms. This was a breakthrough as other conventional scans would not have picked this up, I thank him a lot and recommend him immensely 🙂

Mr. Ghosh removed two rods and 10 screws from my back two months ago. He spotted one screw which was causing me persistent nerve pain and I'm happy to report this pain has now gone. I had a lumbar stenosis operation performed by Mr Ghosh. My experience from start to now has been first class. From first speaking to Nicki his secretary who was so helpful to my diagnosis and operation those involved could not have been more professional and kind. I was in serious pain prior to my operation but afterwards the pain had gone and two weeks on I am positive about my full recovery. I was seen by Mr. Ghosh for a wedge break of one of my vertebrae in my lower back. Mr. Ghosh was very attentive and understanding. He in detail explained the choice of different possible treatments. I had spinal surgery undertaken by Anthony Ghosh approximately 3 years ago at Chelsfield Park Hospital and this was a success. Unfortunately, last November I developed extreme pain in the top of both buttocks. Eventually I was unable to walk far and promptly made an appointment to see Mr Ghosh. He explained to me the first procedure again and why I was receiving the new symptoms. I had an MRI scan which confirmed the prognosis. Within a month I was operated on again, which has relieved most of the pain and in time with the aid of physio I'll be back to normal. I would highly recommend Mr Ghosh as a consultant and trust him implicitly with the surgery he has undertaken.
